FOUNDATIONAL LESSON #1
Your first 2-hour lesson covers the following foundational aspects of digital photography:
Getting to know your camera and relevant photo gear with an overview of the features you will use the most!
Learn the finer details about ISO, White Balance (WB), optimal color settings, using flash, maximizing focus and nailing your exposure settings.
Demystify Aperture (A or AV mode for f/stops) to learn how each camera and each of your lens control for light and depth.
Learn about about life in motion with Shutter Speed (S or TV mode) as you discover the rules around movement with photography.
Discover Pro photo secrets and tips that Jared will share with you to truly get most out of your camera shots!
ON-LOCATION SHOOTING LESSON #2
Your second 2-hour lesson often covers on-location shooting practices for increasing your innate abilities:
Learn to control any DSLR camera in a diverse set of lighting scenarios and conditions, interior and exterior light.
Get comfortable shooting in Shutter Speed (S or TV modes) on your camera, controlling shutter speeds for time, motion and blurring special effects.
Learn about why to shoot in aperture (A or AV modes) on your camera, controlling aperture and f/stops for depth, light and forcing viewers attention.
Dive into Manual (M mode) and shoot like a PRO! Learn how to fully control your camera with help from your light meter and juggling all the impactful settings on your camera!
All on-location lessons use your camera with you holding the reigns, we also practice backlighting, fill-flash and speed/motion examples.
Custom needs: learn to shoot on-location, in a studio, with lighting, models and more, just ask Jared!
EDITING & CUSTOM LESSON #3
A third 2-hour lesson often covers a variety of topics from advanced techniques to photo editing on your computer:
Learn the PRO way to download, import and archive your digital images to the computer and onto external hard-drives to archive and protect your images. Organization for future retrieval is a key to digital media.
Gain instruction on top photo editing software including: Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Elements, Lightroom, iPhoto and also via Picasa/Flickr/Smugmug/Google Photos.
Cover editing basics of cropping, color-balancing, saturation, contrast, composition, noise reduction, issues for finer edit adjustments to go from 50/50 good photos to over 90% great images!
Learn to convert your RAW or JPG color images to black & white, and many other great image effects, such as HDR photography.
Review exporting, online sharing to easily build photo galleries, burn to backup archival discs, upload or simply back-up your media. Again digital media requires us to be photographer, editor and archivist all in one!

All lessons will meet with 1:1 with Jared Brick at the following locations around the Bay:
Santa Cruz - Meet up at local parks, the redwoods, local beaches or a location of your choice for private lessons!
East Bay*- Oakland, Berkeley, UC Berkeley campus, Alameda, Montclair or other great local photography spots
San Francisco*- Ferry Building, Union Square, Presidio, Golden Gate Park, other parks, cafes and public areas
Bay Area Locations* - Are you located outside Santa Cruz or SF? If so, contact us for a lesson quote to meet you
Privates - Need Jared to come to your home/neighborhood to learn more about photography, contact us!

Prices + Payments
Rates: $60-100* per hour, avg. 2-hour sessions, prices may not include travel time. (*Based on availability/locations)
Packages: Save some money and speed up your learning curve with these packages, lessons are paid in-advance
2 hours for 1 Session = $120 base
4 hours for 2 Sessions = $240 base
6 hours for 3 Session = $360 base
Payments: We accept cash, credit cards online via PayPal, Stripe, Square and Venmo. Packages are all paid in-advance in advance of your first lesson, or due at the end of the first lesson. Cash or checks are payable contact us for mailing address. (*pricing based on availability/locations, prices subject to change)
